A huge influence on the techno house scene from mid-2010 to the present is the Uruguayan DJ/producer who has been dominating the floor with his dark and intense tracks. DJ Koolt, one of the most respected veterans of the scene based at Phonoteque in Montevideo, will make his first visit to Japan to perform at WOMB.

Koolt has had a career since the 90s, but it was his B2B with Nicolas Lutz on Boiler Room in 2015 that made his presence known to the world. The mix featured a generous helping of the then under-appreciated UK tech house breaks of the 90s, as well as unknown masterpieces of Detroit techno and Chicago house that shocked many listeners. Nicolas Lutz, whose music selection and skills have earned him accolades alongside the likes of Binh and dj masda, has been instrumental in making the Uruguayan scene known through his own label, My Own Jupiter. Koolt is a master DJ who is also recognized by Nicolas Lutz.

Koolt's performance is a mixture of acidic tech house that dives into the darkness while running at a fast pace, electro that shines on the floor, and tribal grooves that you can't help but dance to, while freely controlling the heat on the floor. In recent years, he has toured as a DJ in Europe and around the world, and in May of 2023, he provided a mix for Dekmantel’s podcast, a large Dutch festival and label that is highly respected. The two-hour mix also offers a glimpse into Koolt's exceptional expressive abilities.

Today, Uruguayan DJs and producers such as Z @ p, Omar, Nico Etorena, Tunik, and many others have been making a name for themselves through their labels and releases, but it was none other than DJ Koolt who started it all.
