Q'HEY

Founder of MOON AGE RECORDINGS, Q’HEY is one of the leading figures in Japan’s techno scene. He organizes REBOOT, Japan’s longest-running techno party, now celebrating its 28th anniversary, as well as the label party MOON AGE. He has also served as a resident DJ for the highly respected outdoor festival METAMORPHOSE and the massive beach party Maniac Beach, remaining at the forefront of Japanese techno for decades.

Internationally, Q’HEY has performed extensively across Asia, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, South Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia, as well as throughout Europe in countries such as Belgium, Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, and Luxembourg.

In 1998, he launched his own label, MOON AGE RECORDINGS. Its releases have received worldwide recognition and support from some of the scene’s most influential DJs, including Carl Cox, Sven Väth, and Marco Bailey.

His productions have also appeared on international labels such as Belgium’s MB Elektronics and Spain’s Pornographic Recordings. He has released two albums, Q’HEY + REBOOT “ELECTRIC EYE ON ME” and Q’HEY + SHIN “PLANETARY ALLIANCE,” as well as three singles as Q-RAM, his collaborative project with Hardfloor’s Ramon Zenker.

His mix CDs have also earned strong acclaim, showcasing his technical skills across three turntables. Releases including “SOUND REPUBLIC” (KSR), “REBOOT #001” (KSR), and “NYSO VOL.1: DJ Q’HEY” (YENZO MUSIC) all achieved strong sales.

Following the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, Q’HEY founded the charity project BPM Japan – Be Positive by Music Japan, raising funds for those affected by the disaster through compilation albums and events.

In 2012, he performed at Fuji Rock Festival, followed by an 11-city tour across Japan in 2013 celebrating the 15th anniversary of REBOOT. That same year, he contributed a remix to Jeff Mills’ album “WHERE LIGHT ENDS.”

He later released a series of EPs and remixes through the Japan-based label TORQUE, followed by the album “CORE.” The album reached No. 6 on Beatport’s Techno chart and achieved strong sales worldwide, further cementing Q’HEY’s long-standing presence in the global techno scene.
