PEGGY GOU
Born in South Korea, via London and now based in Berlin, Peggy Gou is a globally renowned DJ and producer. She runs the music label Gudu Records, fashion brand Kirin, and PEGGY GOODS. An icon of K-house at the forefront of contemporary dance music, she is one of the few Asian DJs capable of headlining some of the world’s biggest festivals.
Gou began studying classical piano at the age of eight and moved to London at 14. At 18, she briefly returned to Korea before moving back to London six months later to study at the prestigious London College of Fashion, where she spent the next four years. After graduating, she became the London correspondent and editor for the Korean edition of Harper’s BAZAAR, one of the world’s longest-running fashion magazines, originally founded in New York. Her passion for dance music eventually led her to relocate to Berlin, one of electronic music’s spiritual homes.
In 2016, she made her debut with her first EP, Art Of War, released on Rekids, the renowned house and techno label headed by Radio Slave. She continued releasing music prolifically, including a 12-inch on Phonica White, the label affiliated with London record store Phonica Records. In 2017, she became the first Korean female DJ to perform at Berlin’s legendary Berghain / Panorama Bar.
Her breakthrough came in 2018 with It Makes You Forget (Itgehane), taken from her Once EP on iconic London label Ninja Tune. Pairing minimal acid sounds with Gou’s own cool-toned Korean vocals, the track became a global hit. That same year, she performed at Coachella, one of the world’s leading outdoor festivals, as well as Fuji Rock, one of Japan’s largest.
In 2019, Gou launched her own label, Gudu Records. Her original track Starry Night, once again featuring her own Korean vocals, became another major hit, surpassing 30 million views on YouTube. She also contributed to !K7’s landmark DJ-Kicks mix series, weaving together 19 tracks across genres and eras in a set that reflected her broad musical background and was hailed as one of the year’s standout DJ mixes.
In 2021, her rave-inspired summer anthem I Go became another major success. The following year, she created an official remix of Kylie Minogue’s classic Can’t Get You Out of My Head, attracting worldwide attention. Her long-awaited debut album is set to be released on XL Recordings.
Gou’s influence extends far beyond music. Through her friendship with the late Virgil Abloh, then artistic director of Louis Vuitton, and with support from Italy’s New Guards Group, home to brands including Off-White, she launched her luxury streetwear brand Kirin in 2019. The same year, she also launched PEGGY GOODS. As a fashion icon, she has appeared in campaigns and collection visuals for FENDI, Louis Vuitton, MONTBLANC, and others, while gracing the covers of magazines including VOGUE, DAZED, GQ, and Numéro.
Praised by publications including Pitchfork, Billboard, The Guardian, The New York Times, and FADER, PEGGY GOU has energized dancefloors at some of the world’s most celebrated festivals and clubs, including Glastonbury, Dekmantel, De School, and Printworks. Her unmistakable DJ style moves effortlessly between playful house, driving techno, breakbeats, leftfield sounds, and disco, reflecting influences ranging from J Dilla and Patrick Cowley to Yellow Magic Orchestra and DJ Sotofett. At its core is a timeless, open-minded musical philosophy that transcends genre and era.
In recent years, she has headlined festivals for crowds ranging from thousands to tens of thousands, with demand for her performances continuing to grow worldwide. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience PEGGY GOU in an intimate club setting on her Japan tour.
