Born in Osaka and now based in Tokyo, DJ/producer DJ MARIA. has steadily established herself as a force pushing the boundaries of Tokyo’s techno scene, a scene shaped and matured through a diversity of cultures. Following several years on the international DJ circuit, she is increasingly recognized as one of the artists representing the new generation of techno emerging from Tokyo and Japan.

Her DJ style moves freely between groovy techno that pulses through every part of the body and trance that connects deeply with the mind, intuitively weaving each set into a rich narrative that guides the audience through the journey. Her performances have captivated listeners worldwide, often leaving behind some of the most memorable moments of the night. Depending on the mood and setting, she also incorporates a wide spectrum of sounds, from downtempo and house to ambient, approaching every mix as a personal work shaped through dialogue with the audience.

DJ MARIA.’s highly distinctive yet versatile sound has earned recognition from major festivals and renowned clubs around the world. She has performed at Berghain in Berlin, Bassiani in Georgia, Acquario Masada in Milan, Elysia in Basel, and Amsterdam’s much-missed De School. Her festival appearances include La Nature in Belgium, Monument in Norway, BOOM in Portugal, Nation of Gondwana in Germany, and Draaimolen in the Netherlands, bringing her sound to the outdoor settings where she particularly thrives.

As a producer, she released the EP Acid Sunrise on Beyond the Galaxy. She has also contributed tracks to compilations by Deep Fundraisers, supporting humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, and Bassiani Records.

Beyond DJing and production, she is a key member of the organizing teams behind two festivals gaining attention within Japan’s new generation of outdoor festivals: Moment, held in the beautiful and secluded surroundings of Tenkawa Village in Nara Prefecture, and Transcendance, which focuses on its own distinctive vision of psychedelia.
