DJ AKi
After returning to Japan from New York in '01, he now works as the resident DJ at the wildly popular WOMB's "06S", the biggest drum n' bass party in Asia. He works to expand the Japanese drum n' bass scene by introducing to Japanese audiences the more than 100 top foreign artists he has worked in his career.
He boasts a 19-year-long DJ career. He's performed at many large scale music festivals, such as Fuji Rock, Ultra Music Festival Korea, Ultra Music Festival Japan, WOMB Adventure, Hacienda and more. He's also been active abroad, DJing in the UK, America, Brazil, Holland, Australia, Serbia, Taiwan, Korea, China, Thailand, and Singapore.
In '05 he started his own label, "06S RECORDS", and has already released 3 singles and 4 CD mixes. He also released "NIKE SPORTS MUSIC 06SPACE MIXED by DJ AKi" for download last December, which ranked #1 in iTunes' Electronic Top Album chart.
In '10 he started his own Ustream program "DJAKi STREAM", and in '11 he started a monthly program "BassTech" on Block.fm. In '14 he started Jupiter Radio, where he gives dynamic weekly performances.
In '11, his "NIKE+ BASIC RUN [SPEED] MIXED by DJAKi" ranked 3rd on iTunes' album chart, after The Beetles and YMO. This really put him in the spotlight.
He's worked on many remixes, such as CHASE & STATUS's "AGAINST ALL ODDS", Koda Kumi's "GO TO THE TOP / DJAKi ASY RMX" and "BUT / DJAKi ES9 REMIX", as well as "BETTER WITHOUT YOU / FAKY" and GENNKI ROCKETS' "HEAVENLY STAR".
Currently, he's writing mainly drum n' bass and dance music with his group "ASY", formed with STY and YUUKi MC. Their first single "SEE THE LIGHTS" was a wildly popular free download, and they released their first album as ASY, called "#Zero_ASY" in December '14. The single "S.T.A.R.S." came in 2nd on iTunes' dance music chart. He's begun work to invigorate the Japanese music scene.
DJAKi skillfully balances his crowd-pleasing floor work with a mellow and elegant DJ set to please an extensive fan-base. He's also gaining attention as a drum n' bass DJ who can represent Japan both at home and abroad.
